Quinno _ left this review about The Borough Arms

Feels like there has been a bit of a refurb in here though the customer base ('base' ha ha) remains similar. Despite my ears being assaulted by some dreadful piped howling, I made out four Waddies beers on. Unfortunately my Horizon was pretty listless though I suspect towards barrel-end more than anything.

Brief revisit to catch the football (only two pubs in the whole of town were showing it!). Not much change from last year's visit - the interior is a pretty basic affair but at least you can see the screens comfortably unlike the Sun. 6X and Horizon on, Horizon was in pretty good shape. It does what it does fairly well; without the garden it's a 5.

An unassuming pub both roadside and inside with a fairly unremarkable bar area, serving up a couple of good-condition Wadworth beers (6X and Horizon) amongst loud music, two pool tables and the attendant extras that tends to bring. Also darts. The real draw here is the magnificent sloped rear garden; long, well-tended and an absolute draw on a sunny day (which we had, in spades). What I presume was the pub dog (a very intelligent springer spaniel) decided to bring over a log in order to play fetch. Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily make a beeline to this one out-of-season it’s an absolute must when the weather’s good and the beer’s flowing; I’d have happily stayed here for an extended session yesterday if it wasn’t for the crawl I was engaged on.
