Will Larter left this review about The Red Cow

A multi-roomed back street pub. I was here on a midweek evening. A group of regulars were exchanging banter with the woman behind the bar, Corrie was on the telly and Elvis on the juke-box. I felt like I'd been "caught in a time warp, I can't walk out", but in a nice way. I was made welcome, and the solitary hand pump was dispensing a very good Timothy Taylor Landlord (NBSS 4), though only to me in the time I was there. (Actually there were two hand pumps, but the other had the pump clip reversed and was also TTLL!) The sound system moved on to the Beatles' You Can't Do That and I was able to appreciate the quality of the loudspeakers: it really felt like the Fab Four were playing in the next room, though not so loud that I couldn't catch the edges of the conversation around the bar. I'd certainly be tempted to call in here again next time I'm in Whitchurch.

Al is correct about the loud noise and the bulging female bellies but the present crowd have plenty of teeth. They are getting plenty of exercise. Not one of my intended locations, but as the footy is rained off, I have spare time on my hands. Muslims dancing around on the "no volume" telly seem to be dancing to the loud juke box. Not my kind of pub. Just a quick half of Guinness then I'm off (JAQHOGTIO)

Next door to The Anchor. Not as good but not bad. Has 3 drinking areas and a pool table to the right on entering. The sign outside says real ale is available but there are no handpumps and a very limited selection of bottled ales are available. Popular this afternoon with women of limited teeth, though they seemed to make up for it with extended bellies.
