Planning submitted, still open for objections, to knock it down & build flats / shops

27 April 2017 A well-loved Victorian pub will be demolished and turned into shops. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/our-region/waterlooville/residents-in-shock-as-historic-waterlooville-pub-set-to-be-demolished-1-7934819

Moby below has it right, but now under new owners, who are intending to turn it into a carvery

I wish them luck, it will take a while to lose it's local image, and probably need ex SAS bloke on the door for a while

A two bar pub, one considerably larger than the other. There were three Hand Pumps two were devoid of any clips the third with a Doombar clip turned around, so no ale available on my visit only John Smiths Smoothflow crap. I had a San Migel. The Few locals in attendance were friendly enough and seemed to like the place,I felt it was a bit of a dump.

Update Jan 2010 - The prophesy from Nov 2009 has been fulfilled, now under new management, "Dave" from The Woodman

All swearing & chavs evicted, some now on Pubwatch and barred

On course for a good clean up & turning into a nice local village pub we hope, the Woodman was always well run & had a good reputation, let us hope "Dave" can do same here

Update Nov 2009 - ominous local reports of run out of beer, brewery not supplying any more. If you fancy a pint here I suggest get in quick

March 2008 Tried this one on a weekday lunchtime

Although not crowded there were plenty of customers so obviously popular place

Usual selection of beers, nothing special, I chose Courage Best, no complaints but I was not expecting too much

You judge if right pub for you, special offers on beers, £2 pint certain days etc, plus it has a Bucking Bronco machine

I will give it a miss but you may love this sort of thing

Much improved since new management moved in, much entertainment with plenty of pool tables and good jukebox, tv, pub quizzes.
