I had a BOGOF offer for Fathers' Day, it would have been rude to refuse, so popped in around 1100 Saturday morning
I was the only customer

The revamp has sort of purple theme to it, plus harlequin wall paper, now has doors to partition off an area for private party, leaving do etc
On right as you enter, by side door, there is now a child themed room, you may wish to head here, or walk right by avoiding them all
had kiddy trap of remote crane machine, you know the sort, work the crane grab a bear
Still two TVs, on mute during my visit, pool table, juke box and gaming machine
Three hand pumps, one clip turned round, I chose Hobgoblin, decent pint
Food remains Marston's food factory fodder, but there is a specials board, no food tried or seen so cannot comment on that
No longer serves breakfast at 0900, recent Sainsbury opening in nearby town killed that off with their cafe
Live music
As before, not worth a special trip, but if in area worth dropping in

The Plough & Barleycorn will be closed from Tuesday 26th May, but don't worry it's not for too long.
Join us when we re-open at 5pm on Friday 12th June with a brand new look, new drinks and a great new menu.

Just an update, went for a Christmas lunch here today with a group of about 30[noon Wednesday], two draughts on, Hobgblin & English Pale Ale, plus one clip turned round, normal array of keg etc
I had Hobgoblin, then keg Strongbow, both OK
No changes to layout, except of course had Christmas decorations
Food was fine, obviously not Jamie Oliver etc, but for the price reasonable. I had steak, which was cooked as requested,
The new managers seem to have extended their offering, not on just food,they now do take away, check their web site to see full details
Staff, although young, were very friendly, polite, clean & helpful
Summary as before, not one to make a special trip for, but if looking for somewhere safe to take the kids, or granny in Waterlooville area this may well suit you

A Marston's outlet, the only pub on this large estate a monopoly it shares with a chemist & Tesco Express [which was burnt down last year]
Built at same time as the estate, so not an old building, it is however built as faux large barn, the interior follows same trend, beams & bare brick. The bar is a large one, with open partitions making 3 areas. Large garden & car park, plus free on street if pushed
I went in as I had taken up the Marston's offer of a free pint [have a Google for Marstons and you will find free pint waiting] Three draught beers on hand, well two really as one had the clip turned round, my choice was thus limited to Hobgoblin or Pedigree, I chose Hobgoblin. I queried if the barmaid was going to pull off the overnight ullage before serving me [I was first lunchtime customer], no was the answer, I was informed they never clear the old beer from the pipes before serving first pint, so there you have it, make sure you are not the first one in. As it was a free pint I could not in all honesty flounce out could I? Teeth & gift horses anyone?
To be fair, my pint was not at all bad and very drinkable, but she did waste a lot as it was frothing and kept overflowing into the spill tray, God moves in mysterious ways to ensure a nice pint
Serves food, extensive menu, which I assume is direct from Marston Central Food Factory as it follows same pattern as other Marston pubs I have been in. I never tried the food, but it was being ordered with gusto by the half dozen or so folk who came in after me, and, hearsay only, someone elsewhere, unsolicited, told me it was good
Decor alert! Twigs in tubs with fairy lights entwined
Two large screen TVs, picture on but volume off on my lunchtime visit. Two fruit machines
New team taking over from 12 March so a notice proclaims, and children now allowed in all day from Sunday to Thursday, depending on your view this is excellent / horrible news [delete as appropriate]. There is an adjacent preschool nursery & kids playground, so from pub view no doubt a good idea to get them in, especially as pub has large safe fenced garden
On a bus route, but only one hourly bus
All in all, not one to make a special trip for, but it is far better than some Waterlooville area pubs I have been in, so if in area and fancy a pint or nosh, worth considering. Opens at Noon
PS, Serves breakfast 9 to noon on Saturday & Sunday [no idea if beer available during those times]
