Every little helps to shut pubs

"The reason why one of the area’s most popular pubs closed suddenly has been revealed – it is to become a Tesco Express"

That's it then, gone but not forgotten

Sold by Enterprise Inns, fenced off & boarded up - future unknown - Tesco? Block of flats? or open as a pub?

Pub seems to have settled down to one hand pump with a new brew every week, for instance was Otter this week, next week is Doombar

Food is now available, lunchtime & evenings, with roast on Sundays

Oh, and the landlady Kath will be on X Factor in the Autumn

Just an update, no big changes, no longer serves food during the week, Sunday roast only

Settled down on 6x as the hand pull, but has just trialled Havant Started [very local micro brewery]and hopefully will continue over the summer months

Went in Friday lunchtime, my first visit since it's refurbishment was completed a few weeks back

Looks much the same, one large bar room, divided into two sections, one carpeted with tables, the other has two pool tables, giant TV constantly on hanging on the wall

2 fruit machines, one ciggy machine, and TV in "lounge" area talking to itself

Big notices up that drug takers will be reported to police

Usual range of drinks, John Smith smooth, Fosters lager etc. I had a pint of Young's bitter at £2.75, which was pleasant enough, so a normal suburban pub

Update Jan 2009, Under new management, same people who have taken over the Bird in Hand along the road, but the clientele are different, so should be OK
