E TA left this review about Boot Inn

A large village free house situated in a grand Victorian house next to the village church and off the main road. There is an outside decked eating area at the front, which overlooks the picturesque village high street, and there is a beer garden at the back. There is also a good sized car park, the entrance marked by an old wagon serving as a gigantic planter. The former stable block is now used as housing. The restaurant area is comfortable, while the bar is also mainly laid to table for diners. There is WiFi, a gaming machine and a pleasant ambience. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, though the pub does tend to be a bit rigid about its timings for food. The menu is extensive, and it contains a very wide range of styles, but it seems much of it is now bought in pre-prepared rather than cooked from fresh on the premises – they’re simply trying to do too much to a good standard rather than a few things excellently. The beer was a bit disappointing – the usual selection of megakeg, plus a solitary ale, Ringwood best, which was OK but not the best. It is very good, but it really could be so much better. I’d still be happy to step in when passing, it’s good for large parties and it is vastly superior to some other nearby venues.
