A lovely old place in nice surroundings (look out for the unusual-looking C13th church opposite) and reminded me quite strongly of the Pineapple at Brimpton. Dining area to left and relaxed main bar to right. Low tongue and groove white gloss ceiling, inglenook fire (though burner not lit), carpet, sofas, dogs, beams, brasses, red walls, copper top tables etc etc. A quiet pub, no music or machines. No newspapers spotted but the gratis magazines were of the top-end variety. At the bar were Waddies 6X, Ringwood and a good drop of Tribute, though Desmond was most unhappy with the quality of his lemonade. Patrons were friendly. I liked this one, a proper traditional rustic country pub. 7.5
