A seafront former hotel, as described by Quinno, below, and with the same beers on, both substandard. They host live music acts in the main bar, and there are TV screens, but these were mute when we visited. They also get funny about glasses, thinking we were about to go and drink outside (in March?). Staff were friendly, but some of the locals were a bit hostile. Not that jolly at all, really, which is a shame given the potential its location and architecture offer.

Quinno _ left this review about The Jolly Sailor

Large pub with enviable raised position overlooking the park and near the waterfront. Enter via a revolving door to large, fairly featureless open-plan room decorated in greeny mushroom shades. . “TJs Diner” lies at the far end, which had an American influence with hides and saddles mounted on the wall. Two pumps, a fairly dire St Austell Tribute and turned Doom Bar clip. At 2 quid a half I wasn’t best impressed, although the barmaid was friendly enough. A pretty poor one, really.

Feb 2008. Now shut & is a restaurant

Aug 2009 - Jolly Sailor has now reopened as "Stranded Bar" serving food as well as booze

Modish type decor, stainless steel & dark wood, unfortunately only choice of draught was London Pride, and that had run out, other offerings are normal suspects

Food not tried, but around £7

Probably do OK in summer with tourists, but winter may be different all together, I would not go back for a start, nothing wrong with it but better real pubs in area
