E TA left this review about The Slug & Lettuce

Sandwiched between Drift and the Wetherspoons this is a lacklustre Slug with little going for it. The staff were friendly enough, but the regulars weren't very welcoming and there was no real ale on –they've decided no-one drinks it any more, the bar staff told me, so they’ll no longer be stocking draft. I shan't be crawling back here in a hurry.

BARRY TAYLOR left this review about The Slug & Lettuce

Located just off of Southsea Common you can visit the nearby attractions which include the D-Day museum and Southsea Castle, which was built in 1544 as well as the Blue Reef Aquarium. Me and my friend 'The Cosham connoisseur' came out of the 'Spoons' next door because although they were showing the Six Nations Rugby they had decided not to have the sound on and only subtitles! We thought we'd got it wrong but this was confirmed as true by one of the knowledgeable punters and we were glad to have switched our beer futures. This was formerly the 'Hogshead' and should not be confused with reviews of that establishment. Comfy, large 'chesterfield' style seating awaits you and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Women with their kids dining are not oppressive and the decor is tastefully done in modern bistro style with large painting on the walls of local scenes. The bar prices are great and I had a 'Ringwood Fortyniner' at £2.25 and a 'Wells Bombardier' only £2 both served well! Food wise there's plenty of choice and they have a 'Happy Monday' when you can get 50% off food without the need for vouchers. 'Ruby Tuesdays' is their Curry night with a 2-4-1 deal. You'll need to be fit to climb to the tidy toilets upstairs. It was interesting watching the transition from the afternoon Rugby enthusiasts to the evening female 'younger set' out on the town, which was a pleasant end to our visit.
