Although this is under "Southsea" I reckon it is Portsmouth, for those who know the area it is in Somerstown, not too far, and easily walkable, from the Guildhall & Town station area, which is just as well as parking, as in most of Portsmouth, would be "awkward" and clampers operate nearby

The pub is surrounded by high rise blocks of council flats, but is the one remaining part of the area not blitzed in 1940 or subsequent council "improvements"

Lunchtime visit, pleasant pub, made even better by finding the Greene King IPA draught was on at £1.99

The bar area is U shaped, with the actual bar in the centre of the U. Only reopened Oct 2009, but landlord is "old hand" and knows how to run a pub, bye the bye he told me he used to run my local over 20 years ago

Classes itself as a traditional local pub, and I think this is true, seemed a fair mix of folk on my visit, all friendly enough

The only draught available is the aforementioned IPA, but it was very tasty & obviously well kept. Other beers / lagers are the normal tap stuff one would expect

Serves food, not tried it, but the menus seems varied and "puby", including all day breakfast at £2.99, curries from £4.99, burger & chips from £2.95, and of course Sunday roast £5.99, also has specials but forgot to note these

Has usual pool, TV & slot machine for those who like them. Seating has tables, some sofas & bar stools, take your pick

All in all worth a walk from the Guildhall and it's Yoof orientated pubs, and I will return without any qualms

Only 7 stars due to only one draught beer. Not one to take any one you want to butter up, but certainly one worth a visit
