A very nice town local in a Victorian building set back from the road, and one of those places I feel lucky to have found. There is a narrow car park at the side and a terraced garden behind. At the front is a covered patio, mainly used by smokers. Inside, two room have been conjoined to form a L-shaped bar with a double counter in the middle. There is a dartboard and a couple of TV screens. The pub is very much a hub for community activity – apart from the weekly curry and quiz nights they host live music, karaoke and a weekly meat raffle, and the pub fields both cricket and darts teams. The landlord was very welcoming, the pub cat didn’t seem to mind us and the locals were at least indifferent to us. It’s a Wadworth’s house, so the 3 ales on were all from that Brewery: 6X, IPA and Swordfish. The beer was in very good condition and enjoyed in an agreeable setting. I should be very happy to come back here.

Still maintaining the high standards and the Sunday Roast is great! Throw in an excellent meat draw, the 'Swordfish' ale and top service and what more can you ask for?

Transformed by the new landlord & lady. Good honest food only available at lunch time. Wadworth's real ale always in great condition. Try out the rear beer garden which is excellent for children and in the evening, wait for the fox's to arrive (true). Wednesday night is Quiz night and Thursday is Curry night cooked by a Rick Stein trained chef. This is what pubs should be like!
