A quick stop here before the train. Décor as described previously and only one other customer on Sunday afternoon, so a lunar-like atmosphere. Three pumps with just Doom Bar on, coming out under-par. Would skip it next time.

October 2014
Massive changes since its Jagz incarnation (and my visit in 2006) and not for the better. Now thoroughly opened-out; an elongated L shape with a raised area to the right leading to a decked seating and smoking area and a semi separate room further down to the left. Main bar was brightly lit and inoffensively decorated with appalling chart music blaring out. The separate room has varnished wood panelling and is a much nicer place to sit, bar the commercial TV blaring out to an audience of no-one. There's also a fireplace here, scandalously unused. Three pumps, two ales: Hobgoblin and a decent Pride which at £1.80 a half was less than I was expecting to be stung for and saved the place from being a sub-5 rating. Still, I doubt I’d bother doing it again - you get the feeling they make more than enough cash catering to the race day crowd to not make much effort at other times. A shame as the old Jagz was decent. Rated 5

October 2006 (as Jagz)
Nice bar, serving one ale on my visit today (Deuchars IPA) reasonably priced (£2.50) and in good condition. There was a decent atmosphere, with a youngish clientele on a weekday evening. Apparently there is a club downstairs and the outside is a bit of a sun trap. In an area not known for good pubs this is worth a quick visit and handily close to station. Rated 6

Adjacent to ascot train station and a short walk to the racecourse. 3 real ales and food served. The bar has a train departure screen.
