E TA left this review about The Shearer Arms

A corner local with a green tiled front, a rare breed nowadays. There is a small garden at the rear. As with so many other Victorian corner pubs, the bars have been knocked into a single L-shaped room. The floor is wooden, but it's not original. There is a gaming machine, a dartboard and a pool table, while an impressive display of sports trophies indicates the strong local following. TV screens showing sport are visible from almost every point in the bar. The staff were pleasant, the locals friendly, and we felt very welcome as soon as we went in. The main topic of conversation was football, and there were a lot of footie memorabilia scattered around. The only ale on was London Pride, not well kept and not terribly enjoyable as it lacked any real flavour. It's a good place to visit if you are a football enthusiast or wish to try your luck in their weekly meat raffle, but the beer quality would make me hesitate.
