A Greene King Meet and eat pub on the main road down to the City Centre. The downstairs has been knocked into a single bar with TV screens showing live football, gaming machines and a dartboard. The staff were actually very friendly, the locals overly so. Beer prices were incredibly low as reported by Michael, below, though only GK IPA and Abbott were on offer. Food is predictably dire. Apart form the low beer prices, there is little to differentiate this pub from other nearby pubs, but I’d include in a crawl because of that price advantage.

A rather splendid large traditional pub knocked through into one L-shaped room but retaining various historic traces and original features. it could do with a more sympathetic refurb but good to see it surviving and not turned into a full-on family dining pub. There is a garden to the side. A Greene King pub, the draught ales are restricted to IPA and Abbot.

Visited on weekday lunchtime, seems pleasant enough pub, with a leaning towards food, which I never tried but seemed to be wholesome pub fare, and smelt lovely

The best bit was I ordered pint of Ruddles, which was £1.65 - I had to ask if it was Happy Hour or something, but no, that is the price. It was a fine pint

Has a garden + parking
