PAUL POTTER left this review about The Travellers Rest

The Travellers Rest is a Real Ale Pub, Restaurant and Caravan Club authorised Campsite..Its surrounded by Farms, Fields and Countryside and serves well looked after Real Ales also wines and good food. Paul and Amanda are your new friendly Landlord and Landlady and Head Chef Eddie(who won an AA Rosette when he was Head Chef at the Queens Hotel in Portsmouth)The perfect country pub. It is just minutes from Portsmouth and Fareham and perfect for a lovely meal and good company..Perfect for back packers, trekkers, walkers and cyclists...and even camping too with a large serviced site, stables next door and on the door step of The Bere Forest, 100 Arces Woods and The Southdowns National Park. I am not going to rate the review as I am connected with the pubs new owners but I can say that this is an honest overview of what Paul & Amanda are doing with the pub..They take over June 9th and Free Main Meal vouchers(I have one :)) are available by using the contact form on the new website and is available for use in their first month,..Yes free :)...I know Eddie the chef well , you wont be disappointed with his food or the Pubs real ales..Incidentally Paul & Amanda were the first choice to take over the Red Lion at Southwick but opted for The Travellers instead because of restrictive staffing liabilities at the Lion inherited from Joseph and Linda who were the licensees of The Red Lion for the past 15 years..The Lion now has a young couple that are new to the licensed trade and a change of chefs. I am not sure where or how to update the pubs website details but there new site is www.the-travellers-rest.co.uk

Real pub with great staff and friendly locals. Got the best of all worlds, classic real country pub with timeless feel without cheesey nostalgia. Great Beer, Cider and food. Lots for the kids to do and some fun events. Usefull having a campsite out back. Popular with classic car and bike folk, cyclists, horse riders etc.I never review pubs but this one deserves it.
And sadly this one really is a case of use it or lose it.

spent last weekend in the camp site opposite the travellers rest. from outside looked a bit of a dive. Was I wrong, had a smashing meal their on the friday night, great staff made us feel very welcome and a proper pub used by the local inhabitants, almost unheard of these days! They now do breakfast there on weekends, great value for money. If you are in the area must be tried.
