A purpose-built estate pub on a busy thoroughfare near the crematorium. Currently run by Hungry Horse (the pub, not the crem), and less enjoyable than some others in this awful chain. There was a funeral party in when we visited, and based on the time it took to get served, the wake was probably, we speculated, for someone who had died of thirst while waiting for a drink. There is a large but narrow L-shaped car park at the front, which gets quite tight during busy times and was further constrained by lots of really bad parking. There is a single large bar, mainly carpeted, though there was an area of laminate flooring hosting a pool table and dartboard. There are two large TV screens showing live football, but the sound was off so people made up their own commentary. The WiFi didn't work, but the gaming machines did. There was a sign over the bar which read 'Bullshit Corner', but it wasn't clear whether this referred to staff or customers. The staff were largely ineffective – a petulant barman who nearly earned a funeral of his own, a pleasant but over-worked barmaid, and they were later joined by one of Jabba The Hut's cousins in a greasy T-shirt, which emerged from the kitchen licking its fingers and started pouring beers. Eight handpumps on the bar, but only 3 ales on, GK IPA, Speckled Hen and Abbott, all in rather poor condition. I'm not dying to come back here again.

Very large G.K pub, the lounge was huge and I reckon the bar must have been the same. GK IPA and a good Speckled Hen. Standard menu not expensive and well cooked. Good wheel chair entry and the bar area is easy to negotiate. Friendly and helpfull staff. A good effort.
