A place that sums up Basingstoke in a nutshell; an aged building that is now brash, mockney, Primark-styled and oddly successful. Very modern in terms of the decor though evidence of an old multi-room pub is here. Looks to function mainly as a lager and sports bar in the afternoon (spotted at least 5 tellies all showing Sky Sports) before morphing into another late-night bar of the type that the good burghers of Amazingstoke find so compelling. To be fair the interior is in good shape and profits are obviously reinvested. The scrolling LED bar signage made me smile. Two pumps both with Doom Bar which was fairly (and unexpectedly) decent - NBSS 3.

A pub full of flashing fruit machines and TV screens, only one hand pump with Doom Bar on, there is however multiple choices of bland keg crap, billed as a sports bar and the name is apparently an anagram of Arsenal, which sums it up perfectly, an arse of a place.

Pretty good place, which you could easily miss if you are not careful. Worth a visit and the poker machines are good as well.
