The Crown is under new management and will be reopening in March 2011 with a new restaurant and a passion for food. There is a new website at www.crownoldbasing.com

Quinno _ left this review about The Crown Inn

Popped in twice in quick succession a couple of months ago. There are normally five ales to choose from including a couple of interesting guests and they are usually in good condition (though I had a quite duff Wye Valley beer that had to be replaced recently). The pub interior and exterior is fairly unremarkable, based on the 70's mock-Tudor look. It gets quite hot and stuffy inside because of the heat from the kitchen (food is a big seller here) and it's smaller than it looks from the outside - when the pub gets busy on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening it can a bit of a task to find a seat, so it's worth popping out to the heavily upward-sloping garden to the rear which acts as a sun-trap. Overall, fairly good for the beer range so worth a stop for that, though I'm little less convinced about the venue itself.
