Still a GK Meat and Eat pub, but appears to have stagnated since Quinno’s last visit. It’s clearly more of a local than anything else, though some of the tables were reserved for diners. The large car park is dirty, full of fag ends and chewing gum and rather off-putting. There is a paved smoking area at the front with table and chairs, but as this wasn’t covered it isn’t much use in bad weather. Two ales on, GK IPA and Old Speckled Hen, not in the best condition but just about drinkable. We didn’t try the food as we were put off by the pervasive odour of chip fat that so often hangs around these places. Handy for a quick one if passing but not a destination of choice for an evening out, esspecially given that there’s better beer to be had in other pubs not that far away.

A generic GK Meet & Eat outlet though it seems to have been done with a bit more love than some of the others in the chain. Horseshoe shaped with a couple of spur rooms, modern decoration throughout. Very busy, with a nice atmosphere. Three ales, GK Abbot and IPA plus a welcome sighting of St Austell Proper Job which was in extremely good nick and went down swiftly. Not bad at all, given what I was expecting. I wouldn’t mind doing this one again.

What a great “local” pub!

I visited it last night, after some time. A new manager arrived a couple of months ago & what a turn around!

It’s very clean, the staff are friendly and efficient, the beer and the food is good and the prices are about what you would expect nowadays.

There is a very large child friendly garden and good sized car park.

They have pool teams and are starting a poker night. They also have special Curry Nights.

Well worth a visit!!!
