A large 1930s roadside pub which has now been absorbed into the surrounding housing area, still on the main road into Andover from the South West. Now a Greene King pub, and it serves as a lively local. Much of the car park at the front has been filled with benches and chairs, which means it’s quite quiet and comfortable inside. There is a pool table, TV screens showing sports and a set of gaming machines to provide entertainment. The staff were welcoming enough, the locals were a mixed bag representing the area’s demographic mix, but most of the conversation was about football. Only one ale on, Yardbird, which was in fair condition. OK if passing or in the area, but not a final destination.

A rather interesting building with a hint of Art Deco (1930’s?). Two rooms inside, the public bar is bare boarded with two footy screens. The lounge is carpeted and has a rather nice bay window seating area. Three ales, all GK staples and my Golden Hen was in good form. Felt a lot more relaxed than the Southampton Arms.
