Whilst the weatherboard exterior looks nice, internally it’s a huge, bland carvery/eatery with a long walk to the rear bar. Inside is exposed brick, white painted wood beams and ceilings, carpeted – looks like it was done at high expense 20 years ago. An old Gibbs Mew sign inside by an unused mobile carvery area presumably is a link to the building’s past owner. Function room spotted. Gents were described by Desmond as ‘bondage bogs’ - black walls and freezing cold. Two pumps, Sharps Atlantic (off) and Doom Bar which was handed over murky; when that went back we had a wait whilst a new one was pulled through that ended-up being completely lifeless. Outrageously expensive at £4.35 for half and a lemonade. The only other customers were a group of middle-aged folk watching the football (didn’t expect it to be on). Dire, really - felt like a place meandering towards the exit door. I’d be surprised if it is still trading in two years time unless something radical happens.
