An old skool locals roadhouse boozer and when you enter it doesn't obviously shout Good Beer Guide 2016 entry. However GK Olde Trip, Triple FFF Moondance, Ilkley Mary Jane and Goddards Fuggle were available, with my half of Fuggle in decent form. An opened-out L shape interior retaining the characteristics of the two rooms it was once was. Painted in two shades of green (best described as snot and pea green) in the right room with maroon and cream in the left (pool and darts here also) but all a bit dull, truth be told. Apparently a large garden is to the rear that I didn’t spot. It's GBG and rightly so, however as a pub it isn't particularly exciting beyond that. 6.5

Large roadhouse on edge of Alton which looks rather more impressive outside than in. Left hand side is a large public and games bar, which seems to suffer from loud music. Right hand side is a quieter bar, which could do with a facelift. Garden at rear. Beers from GK and guests seemed fair enough. Very much a locals pub, with its only real advantage in being easier to park at than those in the town. Also handy for events in Ansty Park.
