Locals, end of terrace pub. Front bar area for drinkers, knocked through area for dining and a nice looking little snug room.

Friday lunch and a handful of jolly locals propping up the bar entertaining each other with cheesy jokes.

This is a GBG 2024 pub. Most beers on were from Millstone brewery. The pump clips offer no clue to the style, so I asked about "Tiger Rut".

Told it was a bitter. It was an exceptionally cold Golden Ale.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Wellington

The majority of the drinkers on our visit were locals, with a handful of Ale Trailers out on the front benches. This is a traditional pub with the bar positioned along the left hand side back wall. A decent sized lounge area running from the front to back of the pub on the right and a more private looking front lounge on the left of the front entrance accessible from opposite the bar area. The walls throughout the pub were painted in cream with mushroom coloured painted woodwork. Eight handpumps, with seven in use, so we went for the Donkeystone Cotton Clouds at £3.10 a pint, which was excellent. Food is served in here, three times a week, on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.

Visited November 2017 around lunch time on a Wednesday. I don't think food is served every day, but it was when I was there. Lots of pensioners seemed to be tucking in to presumably reasonably priced meals and they seemed to be enjoying the food. I didn't stay for food, but at the bar there was Lemon Dream by Salopian, Bad Ass by Donkeystone, Tiger Rut by Millstone and a few nationals that I can't remember. A good selection. My Lemon Dream was £1.45 for a half and rather enjoyable. I'd be happy to go back.

Had a wonderful pint of Thwaites original for £2.80, so good, had to have another. This was so welcome after the disappointment of the pint up the road. Seems a very friendly pub, nicely fitted out, with lots going on. Because of the band festival the Nutty Black was off, and plastic glasses in use. Definitely worth a visit.

Although this is apparently a free house half the beers on offer were from Thwaites (or Marstons whatever). It's basically a local boozer with a wooden floor around the bar and a carpeted area to the right. There were signs of some Ale Trailers on a Saturday afternoon but most people seemed to be locals.
Beers available were Thwaites Nutty Black, Original & Wainwright, Phoenix Arizona, Little Critters Wise Owl and Nook Blond. I went for the Arizona (£2.80) which was in excellent nick.
This is very much a locals pub but pleasant enough.

Saddleworth Ranter left this review about The Wellington

The Wellington Inn (The Welly) Greenfield was bought earlier this year as a free house by Wayne Rawstron and his partner Wendy. If you are familiar with the Saddleworth area you may know them from the Cross Keys Uppermill and before that the King William IV (King Bill) Greenfield.
I have called in a few times since they opened and observed with interest their refurbishment of this fairly tired old pub. Lots of the alterations are very much “work in progress” but Wayne is doing a good job introducing some real cask ales and is trying some of the best. The target is seven real ales, a Cider and the usual Lagers. The kitchen is under construction with appliances being delivered daily. When the kitchen is complete Wayne will offer the terrific fare he offered at The Cross Keys at the same amazing prices. I am informed, on a tongue in cheek basis, that “the kitchen will be complete in 3 weeks” I am looking forward to the opening and cannot wait to sample fare.
Only 7 out of 10 till the kitchen is open.
I will report so Watch this space
