As Peter says this is pretty much a restaurant. The same 3 stools were the only places to sit on my visit as well, although there were very few people in as they were closing at 3 on a Friday afternoon. 2 handpumps on the bar serving Theakston Best and Wychwood Dogs Bollcks. The DB was OK, but it's not really a pub any more.

The Turks Head is a largish pub just inside Royton that caters heavily for the diner rather than that of the drinker.called in around 2pm on a Thursday and already there was around 35 diners in,with every table in sight set up for meals apart from the three stools in front of the bar. There were 2 cask beers on with the Hobgoblin being in particular in fine form.

A Free House with a good selection of cask ales and lagers. It also has a very comprehensive Menu and Specials Board and the prices are very competitive and, on the occasions I have called in (the last time being this week)the place has been packed with diners. My Wife and I have eaten here on several occasions and have always enjoyed our meals. It is popular so booking is advisable.
Easy access and toilet facilities are provided for disabled customers. There is ample car parking space both in their own car park and at the roadside.
All in all, this is a warm and friendly pub and whether a drinker or a diner you will be more than welcome.

On Friday the 13th July 2012, we visited the Turks head. There were 9 of us in total, which included 5 adults and 4 toddlers, age2-3. We booked our table in advance, as we needed high chairs and we all wanted to sit together.
We all got there on time and despite the normal protocol, of ordering at the desk, the landlady made an exception and came over and took our order as we had little ones and they were all in high chairs. We did wait a little longer than normal and got our food about 1 hour and 15 minutes after we ordered. Whilst the food was enjoyable, we did have to request some cold plates as they served the children’s meals on hot plates.
The children sat in there high chairs from 12; 30 until 15:15, and were all well behaved, as we had taken stickers and crayons for the children to keep them occupied. When we came to leave, there was no one else in the pub, so we took the children out of their high chairs and went to the desk to all pay our bills. The children were excitable as they had been sat in high chairs for nearly 3 hours.... and not been able to get down. Whilst the children were laughing and being silly, as 2-3 year olds do, there were no other customers in the restaurant and they were not causing any harm to anyone. A lady from the kitchen then appeared and quite rudely said in a very offensive manor, 'its not a bloody crèche, and to keep the noise down'. Considering we had just paid £150.00 for our meals and drinks, which we had had to wait over an hour to get, we were disgusted by this. It was such a shame, because Neil, the owner, had been really friendly as had Carolyn, the landlady.

On 18th December 2011 my Wife and I had our Sunday Lunch in this pub. Whilst they serve the traditional roast dinners we opted for a different choice from their menu. The food we had was tasty and well prepared and served in comfortable surroundings. There was a good choice of ales and wine available, all at a reasonable price.
We will certainly be eating here again.
