Boltmakers Rest is a small L-shaped Holts pub that stocks a limited standard keg selection. Threadbare banquettes run under the front windows and there is seating down the right to a dartboard at the rear. A fish tank on the right wall is used as a shelf for the crisps for sale. They didn’t have any scampi fries. There was some background music playing of Gold on the TV. This plus the hand gel on every table and the barperson made me feel like I was in an old person’s home. The clientele were all local and I got looked up and down as I entered, which is no biggy in a pub like this. I’d advise not getting to drunk in here because all the doors are painted red and poorly signed so you may have trouble finding the exit. This isn’t somewhere I plan to revisit.

Was dubious of entering this place as the windows are high and you can't see in,it looks dodgy but I couldn't be more wrong. It's a L shaped pub with a dartboard up one end, they have Sam smiths on and mcewans lager , locals appears friendly and one struck up a brief conversation on entering . Two tv's with horse racing on and a quiz machine, I will prob call in again if I'm passing

ROB Camra left this review about Boltmakers Rest

This is a proper estate pub, even though it's only a couple of hundred yards from Yorkshire Street, the main drag through Oldham. It's a split level pub with a couple of steps down to the bar from a small lounge area which also has a quiz machine. Very busy on my Friday early evening visit, but I was acknowledged by the barmaid as soon as I got to the bar with a friendly "I'll be with you in a minute love". It's an all keg pub and I spotted a sign for Sam Smiths Dark Mild which was a ridiculously low price, around £1.30 per pint. I got chatting to a couple of the locals who seemed very friendly. I also won £4 on the quiz machine. So I had an enjoyable 30 minutes and a pint and came out with a profit. I liked it in here and would call again, although I'd probably not bring Ms CAMRA wth me as it's a bit boisterous.
