Old Boots left this review about Robert Raikes's House

An impressive half timbered building in keeping with the medieval church and Greyfriars Priory ruins opposite. The wood is in natural colours rather than the blackened timber we are used to, a fair bit of the wood is new so someone has spent a lot of money on restoration. The answer lies inside at the bar, a choice of cold keg Old Brewery Bitter and the other Sam Smiths products. Inside there are four smallish main rooms two of them with new carved stone fireplaces and new flag flooring. The servery is in the second room back on the left and is the more popular with locals, other rooms are furnished with tables and chairs in a carefully chosen design to be in keeping with the building. Definitely a pub to see.
