When we first came to Gloucester about 18 months ago we were looking for a pub that we could consider our 'local' and tried several. This pub was okay but nothing special, but the other day we decided to pop in as we were passing and it seems to have had a character change - apparently its got new management - the whole atmosphere was buzzing! We're going to adopt this pub as our 'local' even though its 3 miles away!

A detached cottage style pub, in Cotswold stone and render, with dormer window, with large extensions at the back and beer garden area.

The interior was open plan, but had a few destinctive areas, however i couldn't around the place much as it was rammed out with a wedding party - indeed, I wasn't sure if we were supposed to be there. There was a clear dining area, and a couple of bar/lounges - with us sat in the middle one that was in white and brick, with fireplace. There were prints on the walls and quite a bit of horsey ephemera. The food was decent enough value it seemed, but it was just too noisy due to the party, so had a swifty and left. The service was fine and the music ok.

Beer; tap stuff with a couple of handpulls. The Moles Brewery's Elmo's Fire was decent, the other i neglected to record.

I would return here to try it without the party going on, as the beer and service did more than enough for me

A very clean family pub with a recently revised menu, which offers a wider choice and reasonable pricing. The real ale is ok, but not the best kept. Good pub to take children to. Good garden and safe play area, although a large parasol would be good (for smokers). Clean rest rooms. Staff could be a bit friendlier though.
