E TA left this review about The Thames Head Inn

This was a surprisingly pleasant experience given that it’s a roadside pub on a busy A road. The building is Georgian, it sits on its own in its own grounds which include a well-kept garden and a reasonably sized car park. Inside has been pleasantly renovated, open plan though with areas delineated. A central servery sits in the middle. One area is a comfy seating area with a fire, and there is a larger dining area. They offer a good variety of food – bar snacks served all day, and basket meals on request. There is also a high-grade special menu to complement the restaurant menu available in the evenings. The landlord was incredibly welcoming, while the barmaid showed extreme tolerance when being messed about by a couple of idiots who didn’t get the concept of restaurant food not being available at 3PM. Snacks were available for dogs as well. It’s an Arkell’s house, so the ales were all from that Brewery: 3B, Gold and Hoperation, all in excellent condition. Keg options were Moretti, Peroni, San Miguel and 2 Thatcher’s ciders. This was a really enjoyable visit and one worth repeating, maybe for an evening meal in future.
