Been to Chipping Campden many times but always missed this gem of a pub.....

The Good Beer Guide told me all about it.

Classic Cotswold Building - originally C14th - honey stoned, low ceilings, complete with a sign on the door warning you.

To the left a posh restaurant - to the right, a bar - less formal but setup for dining.

Coal Fire.

Outside Courtyard.

Four real ales on - and the Old Hooky was in superb condition.

I've been quite underwhelmed with the other pubs in town. This redresses the balance.

Called into this 2018 Good Beer Guide pub while on a coach trip round Gloucestershire pubs. Although there was a decent selection of ales on the bar it is very much a food pub with tables having reserved notices on them, although they did put a time on so it was possible to sit at them. Much better than some today where tables were set up for food and drinkers could not use them. Our beer of choice here was the North Cotswold Cotswold Best which was fine.

The Eight Bells is a nice looking pub and the only one in Chipping Campden that is not on the main road through it.
Once inside there were a few rooms the main bar was to the right and all the tables in this room were laid out for diners, the room to the left looked even posher with table cloths on all the tables.
There were four real ales on here i had a drink of Purity Mad Goose and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Goffs Jouster, Wye Valley HPA and Hook Norton Hookey bitter.
There was a good choice of beers on here and the quality was very good but this did'nt seem like a drinkers pub.
