Fairly sure that this is the now the Stag at Stow-on-the-Wold.

I stayed the night. As an hotel - its immaculate and everything is considered in the rooms. B/f a little on the light side but high quality ingrediants.

As a pub - it has a lovely front bar and although the beers are well kept - they real ale was from Arkells. At least I could determine the answer to the question - which is the worst beer in the land - Arkells or Donnington :-)

Expensive but lovely staff and punters. Easy to get into a conversation.

Enjoyed our visit to this Arkell's bar while on a coach tour of pubs in Gloucestershire. We chose the Wiltshire Gold and Hoperation IPA which were fine.

Nice Country Inn, in cnetre of Stow on the Wold.

Small cmfortable front rooms lead to a lunge/dining area at the rear, which has the feel of a large front room of a house. Its slightly 'tired' and the service is somewhat random, and the one real ale, Arkells 3B, was not the best ever, but it has a certain charm and a nice stop off.

An Arkells pub with three hand pumps, though only two were on for my visit: 3B and Kingdown. I had the former, which is just to my taste and was in very good condition. My pint was delivered with a large loose head of foam, so I asked for it to be topped up. This was done promptly but perhaps a little ungraciously.

There are two rooms at the front, the main bar and a side room into which the front door opens, where there are sofas and leather arm chairs. The front room is more typically pub-like, with the usual tables and chairs, and a fairly boisterous quiz was going on there. The walls were wood panelled to waist height, with warm terracotta paint above.

Further back there were rooms that were empty at the time of my visit but looked more like dining rooms. There was also a small garden or yard at the back. I liked this best of my small sample of Stow pubs on my recent visit, partly for its pub atmosphere, even on a quiet Sunday night, but mostly for the excellent Arkells 3B.

The White Hart is a three storey pub built with cotswold stone.
When i first visited this pub it was a Bass tied house but things have improved over the years and it is now a Arkells tied house.
I went in a room at the front of the pub this was fairly small with the bar facing and it was comfortable enough, there was more than likely other rooms but i did'nt look.
There were two real ales on the bar and i had a drink of Arkells 3B and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Arkells 2B.
This pub was open before 11 on a Saturday dinner which was very handy.
I quite liked this pub and the beer.
