A former branch of the Slug & Lettuce chain, this bar is now independently owned, but is still a lively place with a fairly young crowd on a Saturday evening.

We'd decided to eat here. But it really wasn't a relaxing place to sit down and have a meal. In fact, we moved from our original table and customers in that area were asking for the extremely loud music to be turned up even further. This is very much a bar first and foremost, with meals such as wings, burgers, chips (with all sorts of strange things added) and pizzas to supplement the alcohol.

Real ales are available. On our Saturday evening visit, they had a couple of local beers - Goff's Cheltenham Gold & Prescott Horse Power. Boxed ciders from Lilley's could also be found at the back of the bar. These were Tropical Cider, Elderflower Cider, Pineapple Cider & Woo Woo. CAMRA discounts are still offered, but this now only applies to real ales and not the cider.

Our food was ok and the ciders we had were also good. But this bar is very much part of Cheltenham's late night scene. I wouldn't discount a return visit, but would probably prefer it during the day when it is presumably a little less noisy.

A too-cool-for-school bar in a town full of them, named after the inventor of the jet engine with plenty of distressed decor and a variety of hodgepodge style trappings. Four ales available including Thwaites Bomber, St Austell Proper Job, Prescott Hill Climb and a winner in Titanic's majestic Plum Porter which was in hearty shape and reasonable (for Cheltenham) at £1.90 for a half. Three boxes of real cider also available, so a generous '6' for the effort.
