A lively town pub in a Georgian building, currently operated by Wadworth. It has a current GBG entry. There is a strong live music following and the pub is popular with bikers of the tattooed, dyed hair variety. We didn’t find the cellar bar, and the band that was playing this time was in a small area by the door. The staff were busy but still had time to chat, although the other clients were less sociable. Four ales on, all Wadworth’s – Red, IPA, Swordfish and 6X. The beer wasn’t on top form but it was drinkable. A decent enough venue if you like live music, and I would include in a town crawl.

This Wadworth house is a chunky L-shape internally which had three screens blaring out contemporary R&B during my visit, which seemed rather odd when I considered I was by far the youngest there. There's two-thirds dark wood panelling running around the walls, banquette seating and a nice-looking fireplace, unfortunately mostly covered with a large projector screen pulled down from above. There were four Waddies beers on - 6X, IPA, Swordfish and Misplaced Optimism. Entertainment was supplied by two northern-sounding beer nerds at the bar, banging on about 'libations', yawn...

The Cotswold is on my "to do" list, it's been a long time since I've been there, they've had some really good live music there in the past - I hope this is still the case. Weekday opening hours are from 4pm to 12pm, I'm unsure about the opening hours at the weekend. There is ample parking in the nearby Portland Street car park.

A fine one room town pub, well lit and comfy. Fine range of real ale from Wadworths and a good foof offering.
Small area at the front for drinking and smoking.
