Wadworth pub that’s a lot bigger than you initially think. 3 real ales and food served.

When researching, I had initially thought this had become a pub-cum-Chinese but then twigged. Daft name aside this is very much a pub, albeit a Wadworth house, so with a three ale line-up from Devizes' finest, your liking or disliking of their beers may sway your decision to enter or not. Up a couple of steps, this has a chamfered, staple-shaped bar with a small seating area to the right, tables to the left where one can utilise for drinking, dining or both (a menu advertised "Burgers & Pizza's" - the latter isn't my typo) and a restaurant area out back down a couple more steps, which, sadly, has been converted from a former skittle alley. A half of Wadworth Horizon was in decent shape (£1.95) and colourful locals were, like the nearby Five Alls, bearable. Muzak was a little bit naff (Uncle Kracker anyone?) but bar staff were friendly and the good beer tips it above a par score.

They are a pretty friendly crowd at The Brown Jug, as the photo illustrates. There is plenty to keep the customer happy - real ale, quiz machines and a skittle alley. A pleasent environment to enjoy good food and a little pub banter. It is also a dog friendly pub - what more could you ask for?
