Country pub at the bottom of a hill on the A48. There is a large room wrapping around the bar which had around about a dozen customers and a dog on our Saturday lunchtime visit. The local Blakeney Football Club were sat at the left-hand end, with some youngsters sat towards the rear on the right, having originally been sat in the beer garden when we arrived, but seemingly unprepared to brave the rain and drizzle.

The landlord was fairly quiet, but seemed friendly enough. Two of the three handpulls were clipped with Butcombe Adam Henson's Rare Breed & Prescott Chequered Flag. A number of lightly carbonated ciders were also available on keg, with no real cider as such.

With its stone walls and beams, this pub has a fair amount of character and even the garden has something to keep you amused, with a number of pigs living just beyond the seating area. Whether they serve food or not these days, I'm not sure. None of the customers were eating during our visit. Both children and dogs are welcomed.

A roadside pub which looks tidy but not exceptional from the outside. Inside however is a very friendly and pleasant pub, with lots of old wood, brick and stonework in evidence giving a nicely rural feel. Comfortable areas extend round to the left and right of the central bar, with a nice garden area also. A good range of changing beers on offer, as well as a couple of real ciders and a notably-large selection of keg ciders. The food is excellent and highly-recommended. Cask Marque listed at time of visit.

The food and service at this friendly run family pub is outstanding. We stayed recently for a friends Hen night and had a fantastic time, the pub is in a great location to explore The Forest Of Dean. The rooms are lovely too!

If the prospect of a pub Sunday lunch fills you with despair look no further - the most amazing lunch with parsnips and gravy to die for! No more bland tasteless food - here you get a good selection of meat and good vegetarian options. Highly recommended.
