Located in the lower floor of the 60s eyesore known as The Victoria Plaza Shopping Centre this is the best real ale pub in Southend.Up to 5 real ales on (one always cheap) and Cheddar Valley cider. Not easy to find but when you do you will definately get a beer that will suite.5 mins from Southend Victoria station.Closed Sun.Footnote:Pub closed on 1st July 07 which is a sad lose of a real ale pub.Pics are from last day of opening.RIP.

Having found this pub and tried it on 5 occasions, I was alarmed to witness that there was not a single pint in the house that had any sort of head. Every pint was flat and lifeless except the lagers. The landlord was not helpful and refused to give a taster. Each occasion I tried 2 different beers and could never manage to finish a pint. Unless I have been very unlucky...give it a miss.
