I visited this pub on a few occasions since my last review and it seemed that the new owners were not sure what they wanted the place to be. There were various initiatives, (two for one offers on meals for a week, quiz nights etc.,) but it never really seemed to take off, and there were not many customers when I visited. However, the pub changed hands again about a fortnight ago, and some alterations are taking place. The interior is being refurbished, which is good to see as it was tired and dirty in places, and still had the Ember Inns modernist look from when they owned it. The pale green colour on the exterior has changed to orange. The menu has been rationalised, and the prices are sensible. All of the staff seem friendly and welcoming. As this pub is close to me I hope it succeeds. My rating of seven may change when it has settled down, but at the moment the signs are promising. Pay it a visit.

The Orange Tree reopened about a week ago, and is now run by the same group that have The Nags Head in Moreton, The Woodpecker in Hutton and Grahams on the Green, Writtle. I have not rated it, and will do so when I visit again after it has settled down.
