Good Intent, Elm Park, Hornchurch

This is now a John Barras pub with the standard blue signage. It's been built on the site of RAF Hornchurch, a WWII Fighter Command station, hence the Spitfire on the pub sign. Inside it's a mass of inter-connected drinking areas, including a raised area on the right. With this chain you will invariably encounter some tall tables/tall stools, and this one's no different, but the majority of furnishings are standard tables and chairs. There are some picnic benches out at the front, and a pool table in the room on the left. Wall decor is the standard John Barras fit of black and white photographs of the local area.

The ales on were Doom Bar and Bombardier. I failed to make a note of the price, but the pint of Doom Bar I had was less than £3, which is good going. Food is the usual pubco chain stuff, as advertised on the illustrated glossy menu, with the usual sort of food and drink meal deals - the sort where the included drinks are nothing you would ever want to drink. Unsurprisingly, curry and a drink day is Thursday. In a display of unwarranted menu diversity, there were five menus in all on the table - the main menu, breakfast menu, lunch menu, wine menu, and of all things a coffee menu!

There's nothing special about this place, but it's clearly a going concern judging by the numbers in when I visited on Wednesday lunchtime. But there are no other pubs in the immediate vicinity, and I'm glad it's here as it's essentially the only option for the locals.
