I visited this pub in July 2010 to meet up with a friend. I used to live at Stondon Massey, and back in the late 40s my late father Alec Lawlor along with his late father used to visit the Eagle on Sundays. In 1949 my Dad took his family to Michigan, USA to live. I joined the US Air Force in 1953 and soon found myself flying in and out of London 'Bovingdon Airport'. In 1954/55 I got a posting to RAF Fairford, Gloucester. From that point on I had a chance to visit the Eagle with old friends of mine the late Keith Mills and the late Len Shuttleworth. Then as recent as July 2010 I had the opportunity to visit the pub again after so many years gone by. I found the place updated, the service one of the best. The food and the ale's were just what the doctor ordered as I do like English beer and occassional Whiskey Mac. Hoping to be back again soon and the Eagle will be one of the Pubs I will visit again with friends.

We visited this pub late afternoon on a Bank Holiday Sunday having unsuccessfully tried three others. There is one large square bar leading through to a restaurant area on the left. It was busy with a nice pub feel to it and the service was friendly. Greene King IPA, Charles Wells Bombardier, Old Speckled Hen, Adnams Bitter and Brentwood Brewing Company Hot XXX Buns available on hand pumps. We will visit again.
