A tired-looking two-roomed boozer opposite an Esso garage. I walked into the right-hand room from the road which is semi-L-shaped, tongue and groove boarded, had bench seating worked into the curved window and three tables with requisite chairs, a dartboard, small, wall-mounted TV showing snooker, a brick fireplace covered over with a whiteboard listing locals' Premier League teams final finishing positions and four sweary old boys playing a game of crib. I could see through the the other (main) bar, which I couldn't access from where I was but it appears to have an inglenook fireplace and a standalone pool room. It was also inhabited by more old boys and gave me a snapshot of what some pubs were like before Wetherspoons pubs appeared. No real ale available, although I espied Bombardier and Theakston XB in bottles. Unremarkable, but a semi-period piece in parts.
