Back at The Brewers after (checks notes.....) 13 years and not much seems to have changed. 8 pumps (it was initially difficult to be exact with drinkers seated at the bar), 2 of which are for cider, and one for Harvey's of course. Burning Sky Arise & something from Deya enhance the usual keg offerings. There was an extensive food offering listed on a blackboard.

There was a good buzz in the front bar after a Lewes FC game. The back room was occupied by pool players. The wi-fi is more than a bit flaky (I wouldn't rely on it).

Definitely should be on your list for a quality pub crawl in this handsome town of fine pubs.

This seemed very much a locals pub with the public at the front and large saloon to the rear complete with pool table. The food menu looked very reasonably priced and a good selection of beer and cider to go with it. Eight handpumps with Gun Parabellum and Project Babylon, Old Dairy Blue Top and Tring Wooden Wonder, a couple of Ciders were Biddenden Dry and Thirsley Cross Whisky Cask. A very agreeable pub.

I also got to visit this one in the gap between the two covid lockdowns of 2020 and also found it to be a decent pub with a good ale choice. The two bar set up has been well described by previous reviewers but as I visited on a fine warm and sunny September day I utilised the small enclosed courtyard garden out back which is reached by descending a wooden staircase from the back bar.
Five of the hand pumps were in operation, also with two from Tring available, and the one I went for was well kept.
It certainly is worth a visit if you find yourself at this end of the High Street when in Lewes, but I actually preferred the couple of pubs in the pedestrianised section at the other end of town across the river by the Harveys Brewery.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Brewers Arms

Impressive mock-Tudor façade with a plaque indicating the former Page & Overton Brewery ownership. Once inside, you find a busy main bar with its counter facing the door, but there is also a much larger (if less characterful) room with its own small servery at the back. Food is offered, but this place is perhaps best known for its real ales. Even in these difficult times, I found the inevitable Harvey's plus a pair of Tring beers, Franklin's Avalon (£4.10) and a cider being dispensed from five of the eight handpumps.

A nice old town pub with two rooms, a comfortable lounge at the front and a larger, plainer, public bar behind with pool, darts and a sports TV. A fair selection of changing ales on offer, with examples from The Kiln, Tring and Totally Brewed alongside the obligatory couple of Harvey's, plus some ciders.

A large 2 room pub at the far end of Lewes High Street, cant say I'm that impressed with the bar part of the pub but I really like the front bar especially if you can get a seat. A good selection of beers and the pub even do a discount for Camra members. When'ever I've visited this pub it's alway's been busy, worth the walk.

This old pub is well described below. On my visit the front room had quite a few in but was reasonably quiet. The back room had a TV blaring out sport.
The bar has eight hand pumps and on this occasion two were taken up with cider and one was unused. The five beers were Harvey's Old & Best, Downlands Root Thirteen, Long Man Number Eight and Burning Sky Plateau. I went for the Long Man beer and not only failed to note the price but also the CAMRA discount clearly shown below. Although the beer was in excellent condition it tureed out to be one of their duller beers.
I had been to this one before so knew it was well worth a look and was glad to find it still is.

This High Street free house is very much a pub of two halves. The front room is a cosy, carpeted affair, with the servery opposite the entrance and the welcome sight of a lit fireplace to the right hand side. There is a decent amount of banquette and low stool seating especially along the front wall and the dark wood fittings and muted lighting help to create a nice ambiance. In sharp contrast, the rear room has a public bar feel to it and despite also being carpeted, had little in common with the front bar. The most notable difference was the loud music that was blaring out to the appreciably younger clientele. Whilst the front bar had board games to entertain the customers, the public bar has a pool table, several slot machines and a plasma screen TV. There are a few old pictures on the wall as well as some photo collages and the corridor that connects the two rooms is worth stopping off in to admire the tap and spile display or the list of amusing quotes overheard at the bar.
On the bar, there were three beers from Harvey’s – Best, Old Ale and Bonfire Boy – plus Beachy Head South Downs Ale and Dark Star Green Hopped IPA. I gave the Beachy Head a try and whilst it was certainly well kept, I can’t say it’s a beer I’ll be on the lookout for in the future. A cider from Biddendens was also available and a couple of the hand pumps had turned clips, suggesting that the ale range might be even wider at certain times.
Whilst the public bar had a bit of a generic town centre pub feel to it, I thought the front bar was a really nice place to relax over a pint or two and would happily stop off here for a drink again in the future.

A shabby place but with a decent range of beers. Unfortunatly although perfectly fit to drink, my Harveys was a little cloudy, as were a couple of the brews of my companions. Big open front room with a pink cieling and numerous obscure beer bottles on the plate rack. The bench seating under the windows could do with re-upholstering as the springs had gone where I was sitting. Fairly busy on a Saturday lunch with lots of Brighton fans pre loading before the match. Never went in the back or used the toilets as it was our first pub of the day.

Just to update my 2009 review, little has changed and this is still a very good pub, well run and serious about it's ales. I ate here this time and the food was good with big portions.
