Moby Duck left this review about Royal Standard

A rather basic single roomed Sheps pub, Covid 19 restrictions meant outside drinking only, the beer garden was rammed but I did manage to find a seat at the front of the pub.The only ale on was Whitstable Bay which wasn't very challenging. A half decent pub but dull beer.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Standard

Rough-and-ready Sheps pub in an old building that has an attractive façade but a pretty basic interior (and often some rather off-putting clientele). Mind you, if the sun's out, and you go at a quieter time, there are worse places to sit outside on one of the wooden picnic benches and watch the world go by. Regular live music advertised. Spitfire Gold and Whitstable Bay Pale on handpump, along with Cameron's Strongarm as a guest and a cider.

Steve C left this review about The Royal Standard

The Royal Standard is a Shepherd Neame pub that has a naval theme running throughout as the walls are plastered with all things ship. There is a seating area by the front entrance that had a few friendly locals in situ and the larger bar area that was empty on Monday night has lots of water jugs hanging from the ceiling. There was no music coming from the jukebox during my visit, but I gather that this place has live music at the weekends. The young woman behind the bar was friendly and getting involved in a bit of banter which is always good to see. The Guinness was good, but both hand pumps were off leaving the usual SN draught products of Holsten Export, Oranjeboom etc.

I’m not a big fan of Shep pubs, but I liked the atmosphere in here even though it was quiet and I would have no problem returning.
