Hi, new this pub years ago, the deep clean and name change have helped, there is also a new manager / manageress, who has introduced live musical entertainment, the dartboard and pool table remain, ( a good idea ) it was a mid Friday afternoon, the pub had a number of clients, of all ages, but I was made welcome space made at the bar, bar stool offered, even though they appeared to be in short supply, the pub has two real ale pumps, neither in use, that was a pity. but I will visit again.

I was walking past this pub last week and I noticed that the name has changed to Langley’s so I decided to pop in and see if anything else had changed. The layout is basically the same with a dartboard and plasma screen to the right of the bar and a pool table to the left. The major difference is the cleanliness as there has been a recent deep clean that has uncovered the splendor of this boozer. The two hand pumps are still unused and there is still only a standard draught selection available, but the bloke working behind the bar was very friendly and the few other customers seemed harmless enough. Sky Sports is shown and there is a function room that is available for free hire. I would have preferred it if Gold FM wasn’t being blasted out of the speakers as the adverts were extremely irritating, but this was my only major gripe.

My visit was on a quiet Thursday afternoon when only a handful of other customers were in so I don’t know what the crowd is like at the weekends. I think that this pub has improved enough for me to find out though and I will pop back in for another look at a busier time.

There are some really bad pubs in Eastbourne and the Bourne Inn is right up there with the worst. The upholstery is filthy and worn and there are stains running down the window frames that wouldn't look out of place in a condemned kebab house. The barmaid looked shocked to see people she didn't know walk in and the regulars at the bar were transfixed on the tiny old TV set watching the horse racing. I would be surprised if any of them had any money to place any bets as they looked like their giro/pension had been spent drinking the inferior Stella.

There are two ale pumps, one of which was unused and the other was Bass, which was off. Becks Vier, Dry Blackthorn Cider and Guinness were also available. There is a pool table and a dartboard, but these do not make up for this terrible excuse of a pub.

It is a real shame as the building is fantastic and there is an old walkway above the toilets that would have been worth a look, but alas the only good thing about this place is that it rounds up some of the less desirable inhabitants of the area and keeps them away from the general population.
