Given the Sussex location I think it's unlikely that this has always been a Shepherd Neame pub but I couldn't trace any previous ownership. It underwent a major refurbishment in Spring 2015 and seems to be trying to emphasise the food side as well as being a local boozer. Crowborough rail station is just yards away
It's a single room with an island bar and three Shepherd Neame beers, Master Brew, Whitstable Bay Pale and the seasonal Early Bird.
I went for the bog standard Master Brew (£3.20) which seemed to be in pretty good nick.
Crowborough is a pretty poor town for pubs. It seems to have a smattering of them all around, the place. This one is reasonable enough, at least Shep's have some respect for their tied houses unlike a former regional brewer in London.
It's definitely worth a look.
