Will Larter left this review about The Railway Inn

Welcoming and friendly railway pub, right next to the level crossing. Large open space with bar counter against the right hand wall, with wood panelling painted a vibrant olive green. Six hand pumps with five beers and a cider (see photo). I went for Lakedown Sussex Pale which was on tremendous condition (NBSS 4) - the barman told me it had been selling well. An interesting and lively soundtrack at a reasonable volume and some eccentric touches in the décor helped to make this an enjoyable pub visit.

Cask Fan left this review about The Railway Inn

The pub was quite busy when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It seemed very popular with families and groups. There were 4 cask ales on, and a good selection of ciders and kegs. Slightly pricey, my pint of cask was £5.20. An interesting choice of Asian themed food was available, from snacks to larger meals. Very convenient for the railway station.

Graham Coombs left this review about The Railway Inn

Reverted to its original name, the Railway Inn is a good looking pub outside the station. The refurbished interior is an impressive attempt at an historic feel, although slightly let down by serried rows of tables and an intrusive ice cream servery at the end of the otherwise splendid-looking bar. Up a couple of steps is a further area, equally laid out with tables, with a large patio garden to the rear. Handpumps featured a good selection of smaller breweries, with examples from Loud Shirt, Fallen Acorn and Gun as well as the ubiquitous Harvey's and a couple of ciders.

Steve C left this review about The Whistlestop Inn

The Whistlestop Inn is located next to the level crossing by Portslade Railway Station. The left hand side of the pub has a pool table and a couple of plasma screens for showing Sky Sports. The right hand side has plenty of seating and another plasma screen. An extension on the rear houses more seating and table football and there is access to a beer garden.

I thought that this pub was rather forgettable and I cannot imagine a return visit in the near future.
