Steve C left this review about Volks

In the summer months Volks opens during the daytime to take advantage of all the holiday makers, but in the colder months it is shut during the day. It still opens in the evenings when it turns into a club and I’m not sure if there is an entrance fee.
I visited early on a recent Saturday afternoon when there were a few people sitting on the café tables out the front. The bar is located to the right of the building where standard draught can be purchased. There is a plasma screen that was showing muted rolling BBC news and there was some low chilled dance music playing. The left hand side of the building is where the dance floor is located and the DJ sets up during the evening. The toilets are located downstairs where there is a smaller bar area and a cloakroom.
Pub grub is available during the day and all of the mains are priced under £10.

I thought that this place felt a bit grubby and the barman wasn’t the friendliest, although he managed to converse effortlessly with some young woman that came in. The beach bars on the other side of the pier are much better located and most of them are much more appreciative of the custom. I’ll not be returning here.
