Steve C left this review about The Signalman

Being the closest pub to London Road Station this place used to be called The Railway before changing its name to The Signalman about three years ago. A promising sign out front states ‘your local ale house’ and inside the bar supports five hand pumps that were drawing W J King’s Brighton Blonde, Hepworth’s Prospect, Arundel’s Black Stallion, Heritage cider and Cheddar Valley cider. There is also a standard draught selection alongside Amstel and food is available all day with the mains costing around £8. The interior is U shaped and there is an advertised enclosed beer garden that I didn’t visit due to my visit being on a cold Tuesday evening. Sky Sports is advertised and there was some background music that wasn’t too loud. Opening isn’t until noon everyday but there is a late license until midnight except Friday and Saturday when it is 1am. A weekly quiz is held from 20:00 every Monday and there is an open mic night every Sunday from 20:00.

This pub is more than a station boozer which is why it was busy with a local crowd. I liked it and would have no problem returning.
