Steve C left this review about The Lord Nelson

The front of this pub is quite compact and it is split with the public bar on the left hand side and a carpeted lounge bar on the right that leads to a larger seating area at the rear and beer garden out the back. It was pretty busy when I visited on Monday at lunchtime and most of the customers seemed to be ordering the sandwiches which I regretted not buying as they looked really nice. I had to wait a while to be served, but the governor was very polite when he got to me and the Harveys Best was as good as it gets – I’m not its biggest fan though. I counted eight hand pumps which were mainly drawing Harveys products, but Thatchers Heritage cider and Addlestones were also available. There were also a few draught products including another Thatchers in the form of Gold.
This place doesn’t look like there has been much change for many a year and the walls are adorned with old theatre posters and pictures. There were some advertisements for live jazz and folk music nights which aren’t really my cup of tea, but I’d imagine that there is a good atmosphere when they are in progress.

This is probably not a pub that I would actively seek out again, but I can see the attraction.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Lord Nelson

Excellent Harveys pub, with rarer brews including the Old, Lewes Brown and an excellent Porter. Efficient service, and the food looked good too. Bit of an odd covered area at the back, but overall: top of the range.

Traditional old Harveys house with a carpeted lounge and a public bar with wooden floors. Bigger than it first appears, the lounge opens up to a quieter room behind this in turn leading on to a large conservatory type space. A garden area lies beyond.
Music and theatre posters decorate the walls, the etched window to the bar proclaims "Smoking Room". How times have changed.
Harveys Sussex Best, Hadlow, XX Mild, Olympia Golden and a wheat beer, Copperwheat I think on handpump. Two proper ciders too, Addlestone's and Westons Organic.
