Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ruby

Take care - this place (a nothing special 'Pub, Kitchen & Hotel' on the outskirts of Brighton) charges outrageous prices, e.g. £7.00 for a pint of Beavertown Neck Oil. Apart from that, it's OK kind of place with a good-sized bar, side function room and rear pool room with old LPs as decoration. But having been ripped off once, this is one place I shall never return to...

Steve C left this review about The Hikers Rest

I visited the Hiker’s Rest on Saturday evening at about 20:00 whilst a disco was in full flow. This was set up on the oche of the dartboard that is along the front window to the right of the entrance. On the right hand wall is the bar that is stocked with standard draught alongside two hand pumps. The Adnams was off during my visit, but Bombardier was available from the friendly bar staff. Around to the rear of the bar is an area that houses a pool table and another dartboard. There are two plasma screens in the bar area and at the rear there is a projector screen for showing Sky Sports. The walls are adorned with Seagulls memorabilia and some signed shirts are stuck to the ceiling and displayed in cases. There are also some old paper clippings in the gents so I think I can safely say that the governor is a big Albion fan.
There is a beer garden out the back where some picnic tables can be found on a raised decked area and some of these are under a shelter. A couple of picnic tables can also be found out the front of the pub alongside some parking spaces.
A quiz is advertised for every Sunday evening from 20:00.

I found this pub to be a friendly local’s establishment and even the bouncer on the door was approachable. This isn’t a place I would go out of the way to revisit, but I would pop back in if passing.
