Steve C left this review about Downs Hotel
My family and I were passing the Downs Hotel on a recent weekday afternoon and decided to pop in for some lunch. Thankfully we just made it before the kitchen shut at 15:00, which it does every day, as we wouldn’t have hung around until early evening when it opens again for two or three hours. The interior is split into two and although the bar stretches between these two areas the left hand side is more of a dining area. This is where we headed to be served by an extremely friendly barman who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The pub grub is very reasonably priced and we all walked away satisfied.
The right hand bar houses a pool table and some plasma screens that were turned off, as was the one in the dining area. The background music was courtesy of a radio station.
The bar is stocked with standard draught alongside Amstel and the three hand pumps were drawing Directors, Harvey’s Best and Sharp’s Doom Bar.
It may be of some interest to football fans to know that this pub operates a minibus on match days that ferries people to and from the Amex Stadium. It is £4 return for adults and £2 return for children.
I liked it in here and was glad we stopped off.
