Southern Man left this review about The Branch Tavern

Re-opened as the New Unity at the end of September after a major refurbishment. Now run by the Laine Pub Co it has an emphasis as a sports bar with multiple TV screens and with 6 craft beers on tap (though it will soon have 2 real ales from local breweries). The décor is very modern and somewhat flashy as the pub looks to a newer and younger clientèle. There is another bar upstairs with a slightly more restrained décor and furnishings. Food is hot dogs sourced from the Brighton Sausage Co.

Corner pub with a split level interior. 3 real ale taps but none on during my visit. The pub has a bar billiards table,a pool table and a dartboard.

Steve C left this review about The Branch Tavern

The Branch Tavern is single room square pub, although there is an advertised function room that I didn’t see. To the left of the bar is a bar billiards table and to the right is a raised area that houses a pool table. Conventional tables and chairs are found around the exterior walls and high tables are in the centre. This isn’t the biggest pub so the twenty or so other customers of mixed age made it look quite busy. Sky Sports is shown on two plasma screens and a premier league game has just started during my visit late yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. There was a DJ advertised for next Saturday night so there isn’t entertainment every weekend. Standard draught is available from the bar and the three hand pumps were all assigned Old Speckled Hen badges. Some bar snacks were advertised, but I didn’t see any signs of proper meals.

The barmaid was friendly, but there were some obnoxious young boys at the bar who were effing and blinding whilst talking loudly about their latest mindless fight that probably didn’t happen. It was a shame as this isn’t a bad pub, but I got the feeling that this sort of behavior is common place.
